H. J. Round (1881-1966) discovers the physical effect of electroluminescence.

1962

The first red luminescence diode, type GaAsP, is launched by General Electric.

1971

LEDs are available in more colours (green, orange, yellow).

80er-90er Jahre

First high power LEDs are launched.

1995

The first LED with white light created by luminescence conversion is introduced.

1997

White LEDs are put on the market.
